Advent Opportunities at Our Lady of Hope With Advent beginning on November 29, it's time to prepare for the coming of Christ, Our parish has two exciting ways to help us ready our hearts for Jesus. Creating Space for God  With everything going on in the world lately, have you felt a desire to draw closer to God? Would you like to explore what it can mean to create sacred space in your life? This Advent, we would like to form a group of six to eight people who will commit to learn together and to practice prayer as the experience of friendship with God.   Beginning November 29, we will meet weekly via Zoom each Sunday from 7:30-8:30 pm for six weeks. In our meetings, we will discuss forms of prayer and then work to put them into practice in our daily lives over the seasons of Advent and Christmas. Memorial of St. Andrew Dung-lac, Priest, and Companions, Martyrs November 24, 2020 Reflection:  St. Andrew Dung-Lac (1791- 1839) was a Vietnamese priest and one of the 117 martyrs who died practicing and preaching the Catholic faith in Vietnam between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the 19th century alone, between 100,000 and 300,000 Catholics were killed or subjected to great hardship. Universal Prayer (Intercessions): For all members of the Church, may the Holy Spirit strengthen us in our efforts to be living signs of God's mercy in the Lord, we pray to the Lord... For peace in our world, especially in those nations in conflict, we pray to the Lord... For those burdened by hardships, may they experience freedom through God's healing grace, we pray to the Lord... For those on the front lines of this pandemic, especially as cases surge beyond comprehension, may God strengthen them and their families in the days ahead, we pray to the Lord... For the sick of our parish, may God grant health and healing, we pray to the Lord... For those who have died, may God gather them into his eternal embrace, we pray to the Lord... For today's intention, we remember: Maurilio Castro, we pray to the Lord....
