Memorial of St. Teresa of Jesus, Virgin and Doctor of the Church

October 15, 2020

Reflection:
St. Teresa of Avila (1515 -1582) lived in an age of exploration as well as political, social, and religious upheaval. She used her many gifts in service of her Carmelite order and the Church and grew in holiness. Her writings, particularly the Way of Perfection and The Interior Castle, have helped generations of believers.

Readings and Video reflection:
(The video reflection may be found using the link above. It appears above the readings, below the date.)

Universal Prayer (Intercessions):
  • For leaders of the Church, may they listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in all they do as they guide the people of God, we pray to the Lord...
  • For elected and appointed officials, may they protect the dignity and sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death, we pray to the Lord...
  • For those who are facing adversity, may god graciously look upon their needs and bring them comfort, we pray to the Lord...
  • For an end to the pandemic, and for the continued blessing of all those working to end it, we pray to the Lord...
  • For those who are sick, especially those for whom we pray, may God strengthen them in their trials, we pray to the Lord...
  • For those who have died, may they find joy in the eternal presence of the Lord, we pray to the Lord...
  • For today's intention, we remember: Thomas E. Schwab (10th Anniv.), we pray to the Lord...
