Fearest; In scripture, fear is used to express a filial or a slavish passion. In good men, the fear of God is a holy awe or reverence of God and his laws, which springs from a just view and real love of the divine character, leading the subjects of it to hate and shun everything that can offend such a holy being, and inclining them to aim at perfect obedience. This is filial fear.
Hebrew: yare [yaw-ray’]: fear [59], afraid [3], fearful [2]: from (yare'); fearing; moral reverent. Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
Never Doubt what God is doing or can do, no matter how impossible the task.
It took 7+ hours to drive to Jamestown and as I was driving into the city, I began to doubt the wisdom of meeting with this man. Even though I had called him before I left and told him God wanted me to minister to him and he agreed, I was still questioning what I was doing. You know how those doubts begin to creep in to steal your blessing. So, I decided to stop and get some change from the $20 and call him on the pay phone. My gas tank was empty, and I would just have enough to get back if I was not welcome. We did not have cell phones in 1983, so I called him and wanted to verify it was ok. To my surprise he was excited I called and gave me directions to his home.
He lived in a very large house and had enjoyed great success in the oil business. It was one of the reasons for my doubt for what was a small-town builder, mostly shut down himself, be ministering to a perfect stranger who was a wealthy, successful oilman.
Upon driving to his house, we introduced ourselves and enjoyed dinner together. Shortly after dinner, I began ministering to him and his wife. For several hours we talked about God’s provision and how He sustain us in absolute impossible circumstances. It was now 3 am. He stopped me and asked if we could continue after we got some sleep. He told me he was so full that he could not take any more in, and he asked if we could continue it in the morning. Of course, I agreed, and we retired to bed. When we awoke around 9 am, I continued my teaching. He explained that his business had fallen off drastically and it had dropped from 125 employees down to a hand full. They were really struggling to keep things above water, and he did not understand why. After the ministry time that morning, he exclaimed that I had changed his life with the Word of God, and he was encouraged again to keep moving forward. He had a clear picture of what needed to be done and would begin to implement.
We never know how much someone needs to hear the Word of God and how many times do we miss being a blessing to someone just because the situation seems impossible, or we just don’t appropriate the time. Never quit sharing Gods Word. Always look for opportunities to encourage. He is the only ‘Jehovah Jirah’ and it is His provision that matters. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and God needs you to reach out so that He can use your tongue and hands to serve your fellow man.
