"A Letter to David"

Part 1 of 2

A True Friend

A letter to a close friend and first employee in 1976. Many, many years have come and gone since I had him in my employment. This letter is an answer to a correspondence received earlier from him. Now he is a contractor in Sacramento, California. He has had many heartaches and setbacks but still gets up every morning and gets into his day. He has succeeded in the place that everyone should. His needs are met, he is debt free, has a family and continues to work in and for the Kingdom of God. He is an example of a man down on his fortunes but stuck with it till Christ was formed in him. He received the Baptism of the Holy Spirt in the early 80’s and baby sit my now 46-year-old daughter, when she was but 1 year old, when Jan and I were ordered to the hospital for the birth of my second child. It was Jan 18, 1980, [you were but 22 years old] and oh what a miracle God performed that day and David was a part of the whole thing.

    Dear brother in the Lord:

It has been a joy to watch you grow and develop over these 40 + years of knowing you from high school graduation and your first day on the job in 1976, struggling with you getting born again, and filled with the Holy Spirit, then life and to the present. Much water has gone under the bridge but Gods unfailing love for us never changes and is always there in front of us.

Most Christians make a heaven-hell issue out of the times we miss the ‘Mark’ but unfortunately, they could not see the love of God that passes all understanding. We simply need to have faith, given to us by God through His Word [Romans 10:17 (NASB) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ] and make our stand to believe what His promises are to us.

Keep the tongue moving toward Phil 4: 4-8 [Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things], for if God requires this of us, He does the same. He does not even see our mistakes. Their manifestations only show up in our life through struggle and heartache and loss. James 1:2-3 (NIV) Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. The devil never wins. We always win, no matter what. For God always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus.
