Gratitude: Singing Thanks in Every Season

“Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 5:19-20, NIV

As we close another successful program year, our hearts overflow with gratitude. The late nights of planning, the joyful moments of connection, the growth we witnessed in ourselves and those we served — all of it was held in the faithful hands of our good Father. Ephesians 5:19-20 calls us not to occasional thanks, but to a lifestyle of melody and gratitude. We are invited to speak to one another in songs of the Spirit and to sing from the heart to the Lord, not just when circumstances are easy, but always.

This past year was marked by God’s provision and presence. We saw prayers answered, relationships strengthened, visions cast and purposes fulfilled. Challenges came, yet His grace proved sufficient. Now we step into a season of summer rest — a time to breathe, reflect and restore. In the quiet mornings and sun-drenched afternoons, we have space to remember that every good gift comes from above.

Let us carry the spirit of Paul’s words into these restful weeks. Gather with family and friends and share stories of God’s faithfulness. Sing worship songs in the car, on the porch, in your living rooms or by the water. Teach your children to give thanks for big victories and small daily mercies. Turn ordinary moments — grilling out, watching sunsets, reading in the shade — into altars of praise.

Gratitude reshapes us. It lifts our eyes from what is finished to the One who never stops working for our good. As you rest this summer, let your heart stay tuned to heaven’s song. Give thanks for the year behind and the new mercies ahead. The same God who carried you through every deadline and decision will meet you in this season of refreshment.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for a fruitful program year and for the gift of rest. Tune our hearts to sing Your praise in every season. May our lives overflow with gratitude, always, in the name of One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
