Shalom from Israel,
When we all arrived safely in Israel a few days ago, I offered a kavanah (intention) for our first day — gratitude. We are all grateful for the support of our family and friends, for our health to be able to travel and participate in this mission, for the blessing of Israel.
I’ve been to Israel many times, this is different. It has been raw and emotional and also uplifting. One theme that has reverberated throughout is that when the Jewish people work together, we are powerful. We have heard about so many acts of bravery and sacrifice, but also smaller kindnesses that are all around us.
Each day, 2-3 volunteers have been writing up some reflections and sharing some pictures of our mission. You can read them here on a blog hosted on the Temple Beth Am website. A warning that some of the things you’ll read and hear can be difficult, but we hope we’ve given you a sense of what we’ve been learning/experiencing.
More to come from me, but for now, Am Yisrael Chai,
