SFAI offers internationally regarded MFA programs in Design and Technology, Film, New Genres, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. These programs provide a compelling interdisciplinary context for emerging artists to develop and refine their work while engaging the historical, theoretical, socio-political, and creative concerns of the contemporary moment. Our programs are founded on the tradition of experimental studio practice, academic rigor, and active discourse taught by SFAI's distinguished faculty.

SFAI’s MA programs in History and Theory of Contemporary Art, Exhibition and Museum Studies, and Urban Studies focus on the critical thinking and writing that stem from an in-depth understanding of the major ideas and institutions of contemporary art. The Dual Degree MA/MFA program is ideally designed for students who want to synthesize the intellectual and artistic facets of their creative work, and cultivate a large portfolio of tools as cultural producers.

We invite you to become part of a global community of artists and thinkers noted for their diverse, provocative, and innovative work.
