In honor of National Dairy Month and our centennial, we hosted two Instagram Takeovers during the month of June. Jillian Minor from Belden Farmstand in Massachusetts and Abbie Corse from Corse Farm in Vermont each spent a day posting to our Instagram stories, giving our followers a behind-the-scenes look into what happens during a day on their dairy farms. Our follower increase for the month of June was 70% higher than our monthly average. More than half of those new followers correlated with when the Instagram takeovers occurred.

What You Need to Know
On June 17, the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee shared its draft recommendations in advance of its final report on July 15. Dairy will still hold its own food group, is still present in each of the dietary patterns starting at 6 months of age, and is seen as beneficial in multiple chronic diseases. Low-fat and fat-free dairy are still highlighted in the report while we continue to share the emerging science about the benefits of dairy at every fat level.
Sales trends at retail are slowly returning to pre-COVID-19 levels as restaurants continue to reopen. Nationally, milk sales by volume at retail are up 4.5% year to date, and 2.5% over the last 4 weeks.
