Why the Baker State Mission Offering!
Plus challenging our churches to be 1 of 30
Coming in September, the churches of the Dakotas will have the opportunity to join together in our annual state missions offering. Our goal this year is $30,000. We are challenging our churches to be one of the churches giving a $1000 to this special offering. You will be receiving information you can use to promote this offering to your people. Our theme is "One Mission Together: Caring, Sharing, Giving, Growing," based on Hebrews 13:16. The offering will go for the following needs in the Dakotas:

  • Pastor & Church Emergencies
  • Summer Mission Interns
  • Camps, Retreats & Youth Ministry
  • Native American Ministry

Let me encourage you to lead your church to set a goal and plan to promote, pray and give. Let me share with you the reasons giving to this offering is important:

  1. This offering is a way to glorify God and advance His mission in the Dakotas.
  2. By giving to this offering, our churches can demonstrate our cooperation and desire for Dakota churches to help each other.
  3. This offering will give us the opportunity to uniquely address needs that have no other source of funding.
  4. This offering is another opportunity to show our love for Jesus and the Dakotas.

If you would like to lead your church to be one church giving $1000, you can go to the Dakota Baptist Convention website and fill out a commitment form. We will add your church to the list of churches working toward meeting that challenge.

If you have any questions, feel free to email Garvon at garvon@dakotabaptist.com or call him at 605-877-1163.

DBC Office Closures
Summer provides opportunities for trips and tasks that can't always be done during the school year. Such is the case for our DBC office staff. Because of this, the DBC office will be closed for the following dates:

June 12 - 14 : Paul O'Dell will be traveling for state work. You can still contact any of our state staff, including Paul, during this time. Any check requests turned in may be processed a week later than normal.

June 21 - 30 : Paul O'Dell will be traveling with other Dakotans on a mission trip to Panama City, Panama. You can still contact the other state staff during this time. Any check requests turned in during this time will be processed the following week.

July 4 : The office will be closed in honor of Independence Day. We will reopen for normal business hours on Monday, July 8th.

July 11 - August 4 : Paul O'Dell will be out for back surgery and recovery (he appreciates any and all prayers - he is having hardware removed from his back in hopes that it will alleviate his chronic pain). You can still contact the other state staff during this time. Check requests turned in during this period will be handled on an "as-needed" basis. If the funding isn't time-sensitive, the check request will be processed upon Paul's return.

Even though the DBC office will be closed during these times, your state staff will continue to work. Please do not hesitate to reach out to them during this time as you normally would. In case you do not have their contact information readily available, they are:
