The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce Dallas Mavericks CEO, Cynt Marshall, as the 36th Annual Quest for Success Awards featured speaker. The Dallas Mavericks have been committed to helping change the narrative for Black individuals and business owners through their "Mavs Take Action" initiative.

The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce Quest for Success Awards was established in 1985, under the leadership of Thomas L. Houston, to honor and recognize African entrepreneurs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who have made significant contributions to the business and civic communities.
The recipients are selected from nominations submitted by themselves or individuals in the community and business sector. Quest Award recipients represent diverse careers and industries and range from a variety of sizes of companies, firms, and the health care field.
The DBCC Quest for Success Award Committee is now accepting nominations for deserving Black-owned businesses in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Anyone may participate in the nomination process, however, the Quest nominees must meet the following criteria:
(1) Nominee must currently be in business for at least three (3) years.
(2) Nominee must be involved in a local community organization or participate in their own philanthropy efforts.
(3) Nominee must be available to film interview on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
(4) Nominee must be a member of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, or join prior to being announced as an award recipient .

TAKING REAL ACTION FOR BLACK BUSINESSES
Dallas Black Chamber Chairman, Darren L. James, FAIA, spoke with the Dallas Business Journal about the impact of the digital divide and some potential solutions for deeply impacted communities of color across the North Texas region.


As the coronavirus continues to force businesses to rely on the internet to operate, James said lack of those digital assets has become critical.

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) announced registration is open for its first-ever Virtual Annual Legislative Conference (ALC). Virtual ALC, held August 31 – October 2, will allow “attendees” to experience the programming they have become accustomed to from the comfort and safety of their homes. During this unprecedented time in our nation’s history, the CBCF will invite the world to tune in as all registration for programming will be provided at no cost.

Speakers and special guests slated to participate in Virtual ALC include: Senators Kamala Harris and Cory Booker; Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman, Congresswoman Karen Bass; CBCF Board Chairman, Congressman Cedric Richmond; NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson; Georgetown University Professor and Author Dr. Michael Eric Dyson; and Black Voters Matter Fund Co-Founder LaTosha Brown.
