November 2023

Tis the season to be Fall’y! Our Fall Meeting at the charming Farm at Little Fox Hollow was filled with Gourd Vibes Only! The weather couldn't have been better for an outdoor gathering where we discussed exciting upcoming projects and welcomed new friends. But the fun highlight of the night was a chicken drop contest, it was a memorable moment as we watched the chicken take care of her business right away! We also enjoyed bonding over roasting marshmallows and s'mores by the fire.

We would like to thank Stephanie Mann, owner of the Farm for her open hospitality. Of course, we are also grateful for all our members and guests and are looking forward to our next meeting with even more excitement and enthusiasm!

Our next meeting will take place on November 16th at Highlands Community Church. We are collecting gently used and clean coats, sweaters, and sweatshirts to give to those in need during the winter. Start cleaning out those closets!

Thank you and we'll see you in November!

Spooky Shopping Night: October 13 was Spookatular!

Our members volunteered to assist the City on "Spooky Shopping Night." Jennifer Hooper, Julia Parker, Candace Callaway and new member Christina Hodges volunteered in the misty rain weather to create spookatular hair-dos. Christina stopped by to assist and joined our club! Thank you ladies for your support.

Pumpkin Fest:

Boo-hoo, our little librarian didn't win the pumpkin contest, but girls, we had a great time creating her and seeing her sitting pretty on Main Street. Thank you to Kathleen Tibbitts, Pamela McCabe, Ora Engler and Jennifer Hooper and Julies Parker and their team for their creativity. Our librarian inspired six ladies to apply for membership last week. She did a great job in promoting our club. Congratulations to all of the winners - we were blown away by the competition and their creative entries.

November 16 - General Meeting - Invitation is listed above - please RSVP.

Kathy Crowe revealed her action plan and provided updates on our progress to save the little white house on the corner, our Clubhouse. The repair will be costly, and unless we find a benefactor that recently won the lottery to support us, we will have to fundraise to make it happen.

T-SHIRT FUNDRAISER:

We are starting our fundraising efforts with a shirt fundraiser that also promotes our new 1921 Project campaign. You can order your shirt below and pay or it by credit card or at the upcoming meeting. We are very grateful to Andrea Clowers for her passion and dedication to the 1921 Project, and for making this fundraiser possible. The holiday season is just around the corner and what better way to spread joy and hope than by giving a gift that gives back? Introducing the Amaryllis fundraiser for the 1921 Clubhouse project! With this fundraiser, you can buy an Amaryllis for someone special and watch it bloom throughout the season while also contributing to a great cause.

Not only is this a thoughtful gift for your loved ones, but it's also a perfect option for corporate businesses that want to give back to their clients. By purchasing an Amaryllis, you can show your clients that you care while simultaneously supporting a nonprofit organization.

So, why not give the gift of blooming hope this holiday season? Purchase an Amaryllis today and make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Report your volunteer hours, donations, inkind donations

Our club has a responsibility to report our hours, in-kind donations, donations, and service projects to our State annually. To ensure that we accurately report this information, it is important for each member to provide us with your data as soon as possible after the completion of each project. By doing so, we can avoid the risk of forgetting how much money we spent, how much time we volunteered, or even the projects we performed. We would like to ask all members to please take the time to report your data to us throughout the year, thereby making it easily accessible to us and ensuring that we fulfill our reporting obligations.

What to report?

As a member, we encourage you to participate in any "club sponsored or promoted events." If you choose to donate, volunteer, or attend a charitable event, or support a charity, we kindly request that you report your hours, donations, and any in-kind contributions made. This includes any DWC projects in which you lend your time or spend money. The reporting form will ask you to specify which project program area it belongs to, such as Arts & Culture, Civic Engagement Outreach, Education, Environment, or Health and Wellness (see below). If you are unsure which category your donation fits in, please do not hesitate to ask Sandi for clarification. Accurate reporting helps us better track the impact of our club's efforts on our community, and ensures that we are making a positive difference in the world.

Examples: If we ask you to donate canned goods or items, that would be considered in-kind. If we take up collections at a meeting and then write a check to a charity, that would be a donation. If you write a check to a club sponsored event directly to the charity that is in-kind donation. All hours, shopping for the charity, attending an event, traveling to/from, participating in a service event - all are reportable volunteer hours.

Please click the link below to report your data. If you have trouble, please send an email to Sandi Miller and provide her with your data. Her email address is: [email protected].

Paulding Meadows Arts & Crafts Festival

Thank you to our Volunteers!

What a great weekend at Earl Duncan Park for the Paulding Meadows Arts and Crafts Festival September 9th and 10th!  It was one of our very best festivals ever in spite of the unexpected storm Saturday afternoon. Attendance at the festival was approximately 56,000.

Club members came together to plan and staff the Coke (and ice pops) booth in the food court at the festival. We had several members at all times in our booth Saturday and Sunday, plus we helped with hospitality (checking vendors in and helping with set up) Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

We cleared $319.18 in the Coke booth and received $2254.92 as our portion of the gate receipts. Valuable aspects to this project were making our club visible to the community and contributing to cultural development and FUN in Paulding County. Numerous customers asked about the club and clubhouse, and several said they planned to join! The DWC has a 40 year history with Paulding Meadows, and we showed them WE’RE BACK!

Thank you,

Sharon Vinson

Bylaws Approved

In October, we voted to approve our new 2023 Bylaws. What are Nonprofit Bylaws?

Nonprofit bylaws are a nonprofit’s operating manual. Our bylaws are the main governing document for our club. Each year we will review and possibly edit our bylaws to ensure we are aligned with the State's bylaws and procedures.

What is the Purpose of Bylaws for Nonprofit Organizations?

The purpose of bylaws is to guide the nonprofit board’s actions and decisions, as well as the organization’s operating rules. Bylaws are helpful in preventing or resolving conflicts and disagreements. They can protect the organization from potential problems by clearly outlining rules around authority levels, rights, and expectations.

We encourage all of our members to read our bylaws, this will be our north star as we move forward. All decisions are made in accordance with our bylaws.
