Daly City Active Adults/Senior Services Update

Welcome to the latest Daly City Seniors eNews Update which we will publish each Friday. You are receiving this update because you have participated in Daly City Recreation programs and provided us with your email address. (If you don't wish to continue to receive these updates, please scroll to the bottom of this email to unsubscribe.)

Over the coming we weeks we will be reaching out with news and resources from Senior Services' instructors, volunteers, participants and staff. We hope you enjoy the updates and to hear from you with your ideas and feedback. We also hope you can share these updates with friends, family and caregivers of local seniors, especially those in your circle who don't have email.

While our centers, parks and libraries are closed, good work continues. We miss you! We are working hard to ensure that we stay connected during the "shelter in place" and that you can return to your favorite Daly City spots as soon as it is safe for everyone.

During stressful times, it's especially important to be able to prepare meals that are at once easy, nutritious and comforting. The following recipe, offered by our own Opal Fuller, fits the bill perfectly. It was one of her parents' favorites dishes, especially at the end of the week.

Sunshine Corner

We wish all our April "diamond birthstone" birthday babies a very happy and healthy birthday month. Did you know that the word diamond is derived form the Greek "adamas," which means unconquerable or indestructible. Like diamonds, people born in April are known for their strength and have that special sparkle and shine!

Let's keep celebrating each other and our special days even as we "shelter at home." Please contact Ann with any birthdays, anniversaries, remembrances or get well wishes you would like to see honored in this newsletter in May and June!
"Virtual Reality"

Technology is integral to our lives and has been for many years. As we "shelter in place," it is increasingly aiding our efforts to stay connected, informed and entertained. It also offers a window onto places in our world we look forward to visiting again in person. Following are some of Daly City Seniors' favorite "virtual realities!"
Virtual Visits
Leslie DuBridge recommends a Spring Walk at Filoli !
Virtual Classroom
Learn how to join a "zoom" meeting and attend online classes just for seniors. There are AnewVista classes next week on cyber security to help you stay safe online.

Seniors matter! What's your opinion?

We are busy preparing for the Summer, even though we're not certain what our "new normal" will be like at Daly City community centers, parks, playgrounds and libraries. We need your help planning for the future and will use these newsletters to solicit your ideas, opinions and feedback.

Please take our quick, anonymous, two-question survey today. Thank you!
