May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Participating in Mental Health Awareness Month

By this point in the month, you have most likely seen and heard that May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It has been observed in May in the United States since 1949. Some acknowledge this month by working to decrease the stigma associated with mental illness, others reflect on routines to consider adjustments and updates to better support mental health, others share about mental health resources such as 9-8-8. There are many ways to engage.

May is a month of new.

A Personal Note

I've been fortunate to do some traveling this month. I spent a weekend on the shores Lake Huron, and another on the shores Lake Michigan.

This photo is from a sunrise, around 6am. I got up very early (for vacation) both days to see the sun rise and pre sunrise.

There was something magical about waiting for the sun to peek over the horizon. Especially with the sky painted colors Crayola could never duplicate, and they were changing moment by moment!

Then the sun rose, right on schedule. I breathed in the moments of starting new, starting fresh and starting again.

What are the moments that overwhelm you with awe?

How could you position yourself to experience them?

While you might not have put much thought into creating them, a bit of intention and awareness doesn’t hurt when it comes to sustaining them over time. Here are 6 types of rituals to maintain (or create) in your marriage:
