  • Damiana is also known as Turnera diffusa, Mexican damiana, old woman's broom, and herba de la pastora.  
  • Damiana was named mizib-coc by the Maya Indians of Yucatan. Mizib-coc means "plant for asthma" for which was used by the Indians 
  • Our Damiana seed is Organically grown right here in the US (in Danielsville, GA!) by us! We don't sell it to any other vendors and we don't buy in bulk from Mexico or S.American growers. 
  • In traditional Mexican culture, Damiana is used for gastrointestinal disorders.  
  • Damiana extract has shown antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, which may have gastrointestinal effects.

Turnera Diffusa

Uses for Damiana

Damiana Vinaigrette 
The Fort - Morrison, Colorado

* 1 cup red wine vinegar

* 2 tablespoons water

* 1 � teaspoons damiana leaf

* 3 cups salad oil

* 1 � tablespoons sugar

* 1/8 teaspoon salt

* 1/8 teaspoon white pepper 
  1. Heat the vinegar and water in a non-reactive pot to almost boiling, about 190� F.
  2. Add the Damiana and mix well.  
  3. Place in a sealed glass or plastic container and set aside at room temperature for 2 weeks.  
  4. Pour through a strainer to remove the leaf.  
  5. Add the oil, sugar, salt, and pepper
  6. Taste and adjust to personal taste.

    Note: Unstrained Damiana vinegar in a decorative bottle makes a
    wonderful gift. Include a recipe for the vinaigrette dressing.
