Dan Beard Council is in search of positive mentors, 21 years or older, to volunteer during PNC Challenge Camp, from July 5-8 or July 11-15. Mentors have the option of volunteering for one day or the entire week.

We are happy to report that both Camp Friedlander and Cub World were assessed by the regional NCAP visitation team today and both camps were found to be 100% compliant with all standards and recommended practices. This is a great accomplishment because perfect NCAP assessment ratings are rare. Read more:
There are terrific opportunities for your Scout to play in the outdoors and earn rank advancements. Community Camp offers Day Camp and Twilight Camp options for you and your Scout at local parks close to home. He will spend time at camp with other boys his age having fun in the outdoors and participating in events such as Archery, BB guns, swimming, fishing, crafts, games, and sports.

Tzofim Israeli Scouts Visit Camp Friedlander
“...a wonderful opportunity for two cultures to learn more about each other on an upfront and personal way."

Eight Scouts, ages 13 and 14, and a leader from the Tzofim Israeli Scout Delegation arrived June 22nd in Cincinnati to visit the region, and Camp Friedlander for two weeks. Bleed for a Cause is your chance to make a difference in our community and the Dan Beard Council!  During the summer months blood donations are especially slow for Hoxworth, so they decided to set up a competition that will help our community and help local organizations.

The Scout Law continues to inspire our youth's ability to do positive things for themselves and others today. Anyone can purchase a Boy Scout license plate for their vehicle.  Help support local Scouts by purchasing a Ohio Boy Scouts License plate.

Wood Badge is the ultimate leadership training program for the adult leaders that brings the vision of Scouting to life!  Anyone adult leader can take Wood Badge which utilizes contemporary leadership concepts that teach how to lead to make a difference, and leave a legacy!

In February of 2017, Scouts in the Dan Beard Council will be a part of the initial Soles4Souls Shoe Drive – and we need a patch! Scouts of all ages are encouraged to submit their design by August 15 for a chance to win a $50 gift card to the Scout Store!
Any design is fine – it does need to say “Dan Beard Council”, have a fleur de lis and incorporate designs included in the link below. The design will be used for patches that will be given to all scouts and scouters who participate in the drive.

As a part of Scout Sunday in 2017, packs, troops and crews in the Dan Beard Council will be partnering with the international organization Soles4Souls to participate in a community-wide “Good-Turn” by collecting used shoes at their church.
