We’re excited to share the news that Dan Beard Council will be participating in a BSA pilot program for kindergarten-aged boys, called “Lion Scouts”!  We invite you to join us for one of the Lion Kickoff Palooza events scheduled to help roll-out the details of the program.  Additional details and updates will continue to be released and posted at in the coming weeks.

Peterloon is the pinnacle Scouting experience offered in the region with 100’s of activities and events for Scouts.  Over 5,000 Scouts and Scouters will join each other for a one-of-a-kind event this October.  Early registrants will get preferred campsites closest to the activities. Learn more at

Exciting Camping Opportunities This Summer!
Don’t miss out on your opportunity to get your free slushies at camp this summer.  Today is the LAST DAY to register and get this awesome incentive. If your unit has a contingent registration, you still need to add your Scouts to it for them to get the free Slushies.  To register, please click here

Adding Scouts to a contingent is easier than adding them individually. Don't forget to add your Scouts by March 31st so that they can enjoy free slushies this summer.
Cub Camp Adventures offers many different camping opportunities. There are 2 Day Family Camps, and 3 Day or 4 Day Resident Camps offering overnight adventures at Cub World. There are also Community Day and Twilight Camps that offer 5 days of program with an optional family overnight at locations close to you throughout the council. Spring into Camping is a fun opportunity for packs to get outdoors and have fun at camp.  Troops from around the council will be hosting activities at Cub World including BB guns, bows and arrows, field games, and more.  Find out more at:
Camp Friedlander is offering Scouts the opportunity to participate in programs at the new Summit Bechtel Reserve National High Adventure Base!  Yes, that’s right.  Attend Camp Friedlander with your unit, but spend Monday-Friday experiencing the all of the excitement and high adventure activities at the Summit.  What an opportunity!

Jamboree Kick-Off Event
Join us for the Jamboree kick-off event on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1pm - 3pm at Camp Friedlander.
Preparations are underway for the 2017 National Jamboree and the grounds look immaculate.  Exciting new areas are planned and staff can look forward to some exciting new features as well: warmer showers, better on site transportation, and more. Get all of your updates at:
Ordered too many Camp Cards?
The 2016 Camp Card Sale is going well keep up the great work! If you have ordered too many Camp Cards, please contact Sherry Masten at (513) 577-7686 so that we can send them to Units that need more cards.
Redeeming Earnings from the Camp Cards sale
Each unit will set it's own process for collecting and redeeming the earnings from Camp Cards to the Scouts within the unit.  Some units may use the earnings to pay for camp while others may use it fund other program areas such as supplies or other unit activities.  Please check with your local unit leader to learn the proper process for your unit.
