Announcements & Updates Related to Coronavirus (COVID-19):

  • No in-person Scouting through April 30, 2020. Please use social distancing and take advantage of one of the Scouting at Home options highlighted in this newsletter.
  • Dan Beard Council Camp Properties are closed to guests & visitors.
  • The Scout Achievement Center is closed except for limited hours for pick-up and drop-off on Wednesdays from 10am-noon.
Based on the President’s announcements over the weekend, the Dan Beard Council would like to remind our Scouters and families to continue the practice of social distancing through April 30, 2020. This is an extension from the original date of April 6, 2020 that we previously shared. In addition, Dan Beard Council camp properties will be closed to guests and visitors until further notice. The Scout Achievement Center remains closed except for limited hours for pick-up & drop-off on Wednesdays from 10am-noon. We're continuously monitoring the situation and following local and state direction. While in-person Scout meetings should not take place at this time, many units are using free tools to meet virtually, using the new Scouting At Home programs, and Scouts are participating in

Scouting at Home Video Series with 30-Day Challenges to participate in Scouting activities at home!

The Dan Beard Council would like to offer all of our Scouting units and families plenty of opportunities to participate in Scouting activities from the comfort of their own home. Check out the activities on our Scouting at Home website and social media pages. A new video is added daily.

Also, for Cub Scouts, we have provided fun 30-Day Challenges that they can do at home to continue their Scouting path.

NEW: Scouts & Volunteers Can Submit Scouting at Home Videos!

We would like to extend the opportunity of recording Scouting At Home videos to those who know these topics best – our Scouts and volunteers! We want you to have fun with these videos in order to show other youth in our community how important Scouting is, and to demonstrate your skills that you have learned by being a Scout! Get Your Camping Gear Set Up & Enter our Campsite At Home Contest from April 1st - 8th!

Virtual Merit Badge Classes Now Available Online!

Dan Beard Council has introduced a new series of virtual online Merit Badge learning opportunities. This past weekend was Cooking and Public Health Merit Badges. Tomorrow is the next in the series: Citizenship in the World Merit Badge and then on Saturday is Scouting Heritage Merit Badge . Safe Scouting - Communicable Disease Prevention

NEW Website Event Registration Update

Dan Beard Council is excited to share a newly released update to our event registration system. 
All of the tools you previously used still exist, but are now easier to use and more streamlined for you. The new update also includes new features such as mobile friendly checkout, save my cart,
and more. With these changes, there have also been some updates to the payment processing procedures through the system. Visit www.danbeard.org/website-updates to learn more about the event registration system updates, payment processing, and all of the new system features.

Scouts BSA Day Camp Has a New Name: Merit Badge Trek!

We are excited to announce that the upcoming Scouts BSA Day Camp being held at Camp Friedlander during the summer season of 2020 has a name! Camp Friedlander is happy to introduce the Merit Badge Trek option. As a reminder, this option will take place during weeks 3, 5, 6, and 7 with a cost of $210 per Scout. Merit Badge Trek is a perfect program for Scouts that have evening obligations during the summer but still want that true camp experience! They will be able to choose from our full catalogue of badges or a package first year camper program. We hope to see you there! For details, click here !
Scouts Can Attend Community Day Camp This Summer At Local Parks!
2 Locations: Middletown & East Fork Lake

Community Day Camp offers the fun of camp right in your own backyard. It is the perfect place to experience the best activities in Cub Scouts. Explore the outdoors of a local park with games, crafts and challenges! These 5-day camps include activities such as archery, BB guns, fishing, hiking, STEM, and more. For details, click here !
Our 2020 Camp Card Deadline has been Extended to June 1st!

W e have extended the Camp Card sale until Monday, June 1, 2020 to allow a few more weekends for the sale. As things change, we will continually reevaluate and consider additional extensions beyond that date. As always, we will keep you updated as things progress. For details

How You Can Get Involved & Help

Many of you have reached out to ask how you can help during this time. One easy way to help, if you are able and inclined, is to help support Scouting and these incredible new virtual programs by making an online donation here . Your help will enable us to continue to provide life-changing programs and to deliver innovative ways that support local youth while they are home. Another way to get involved would be to help as a virtual merit badge counselor or by helping to make a Scout At Home activity video for us to share with families. Thanks to everyone for all of their help!
