2019 Soles4Souls Shoe Drive
A Community-Wide Good Turn

Most families have lots of “old” shoes. This council-wide campaign asks packs, troops and crews to help in the collection of those shoes. As a part of Scout Sunday on February 3, 2019, units will work with their chartering organization to promote a used shoe drive and then collect the shoes during the services on Scout Sunday. This will be a unique effort to the Greater Cincinnati area. The goal for 2019 is to collect 25,000 pairs of shoes. Donated shoes will then be given to Soles4Souls who will distribute them to those in need.

CAMP FRIEDLANDER CENTENNIAL
Camp Friedlander Staff Reunion

The celebration of Camp Edgar Friedlander’s centennial kicks off with a staff reunion on January 19, 2019. The event, featuring barbecue and fellowship at the Friedlander dining hall, is a chance for staff alumni from all Dan Beard Council camps to reunite and reminisce. The Centennial Committee is in search of camp staff alumni. If you served on staff or know someone who did, connect with us at www.danbeard.org/campstaffreunion.
Camp Friedlander Fun Fact

Camp Friedlander was one of the first Scout camps in the country to feature a swimming pool. However, prior to its construction, Scouts swam in the Little Miami River. The pool was built after a year of flooding severely limited Scouts time to swim, and was located east of the dining hall. Though it has been filled in, you can still see the outer wall if you know where to look.
Unit Leader Corner
Advancement Corner

As 2018 winds down, it is important to note that in order for a Cub Scout to be recognized with rank advancement, the proper paperwork needs to be turned in as soon as possible. Paperwork not turned in by the end of the year delays all Scouts from properly advancing and can deter the Scout from returning to action. Please get all advancement paperwork in on time to keep the momentum of the Scout going!
Unit Rechartering

Attention Unit Leaders- Recharter packets are out and being distributed. If you have not received your packet yet, please contact your district or unit commissioner. Recharters are due 12/13/18.
