Great news for all of us who collect Dan Gurney models and memorabilia.
Automodello and GMP have announced three new Gurney related models to be released over the next 6 to 18 months. Details below:
GMP will produce a 1/12 scale die cast replica of the 1964 Shelby Cobra roadster driven by Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant to a GT Class victory in the 1964 Targa Florio. The model is expected in late 2016 or early 2017. $499.95. You can reserve one
HERE.
Automodello is working with All American Racers to produce two important Eagles in 2017.
T
he iconic #36 Gurney Eagle Weslake V-12 that won the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps will be produced for the first time in 1/12 scale to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of that historic race. Only 150 pieces, each with a Certificate of Authenticity hand signed by Dan Gurney, are planned. Like their previously released 1/12 scale Jim Clark Lotus 49, Automodello will include a custom display case with each model.
A 'second half' 2017 release is planned. We are accepting reservations at the $949.95 issue price HERE. No deposit required at this time.
In 1981, Mike Mosley and All American Racers shocked the competition by putting their John Ward designed Chevrolet stock block powered Pepsi Challenger Eagle on the front row at Indianapolis. An engine failure put them out of the 500 early but at Milwaukee a week later, Mosley started the Rex Mays 150 at the back of the pack as a 'Promoter's Option', then lapped the
field to score the final victory for an Indycar powered by a pushrod stock block engine*.
It was also the final Indy Car win for an AAR Eagle chassis.
A Limited Edition 1/43 scale resin replica of the 'Pepsi Challenger' Eagle is being developed by Automodello. Only 192 examples will be produced. Each will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity hand signed by Dan Gurney.
"To allow it to be enjoyed and viewed from a 360-degree angle on a daily basis, free of dust or accidental damage, it will therefore be packaged on a stylish plinth with a clear protective display cover." - Automodello.
Automodello has just released photographs of the first pattern of their 1/43 scale 'BLAT'
(Boundary Layer Adhesion Technology) Eagle. See below:
An early 2017 release is planned.
The edition is more than half 'pre-sold out' but we have reserved a small quantity for our customers and are accepting reservations at the $194.95 issue price HERE.
No deposit required.
It is said that the 'Pepsi Challenger' is Dan Gurney's favorite Eagle.
We can understand why.
Talk to you soon!

*Just so I don't get 100 emails later today, the Ilmor Mercedes Engine that won the 1994 Indianapolis 500 was not a 'stock block' but a 'purpose built' pushrod engine. - PZ
