Most people reading this already know Dan Lutz, but take a minute to fully grasp his accomplishments, relentless passion for global education, and continued impact.
After his time in the Teacher Corps in New York and the Peace Corps in Afghanistan and Iran, Dan Lutz returned to teach in Denver Public Schools where he designed, developed, and directed a high school international studies magnet program (CIS). After which, Dr. Lutz led the expansion of the high school program he directed into the creation, design, and development of Denver Center for International Studies (DCIS), a magnet school for grades 6-12, and served as its first principal. He worked with other visionaries to eventually establish the four DCIS schools.
Dan Lutz earned his Ph.D. from the University of Denver with a focus on Curriculum Leadership. He taught graduate global education classes and was one of the originators of the Korean Heritage Camp for families with adopted children from South Korea.
Later, he founded Lutz GLOBE and co-founded Co-Lead International (CLI) to provide consulting services nationally for businesses, organizations, schools, and school districts. Through these organizations, he focuses on global leadership training, professional learning frameworks, school design development, technological, social, economic arenas, and drivers of diversity, equity, and inclusion. LEARN MORE about DCIS history.
Dr. Daniel P. Lutz will be honored at the upcoming Spring Gala 2022 on April 30, 2022. Additional awards winners for the Eugene Levin Leadership Award and the Nina McGibney Alumni Award will be announced soon. Join us to celebrate all of them and the return of our students from the DCIS Italian Exchange Program and the DCIS Montbello Educational trip to London, Paris, and Barcelona.
