CalChamber Explains New Laws for 2017
With the new year upon us, the California Chamber of Commerce is reminding businesses about all the 2017 employment laws by presenting handy summaries of new legislation now in effect that will affect the day-to-day operations of California employers.

Some of the new laws, such as the minimum wage increase, make significant changes to California's legal landscape. Other new laws make small changes to different parts of existing law or may affect only employers in specific industries.

Click here for a thorough explanation of these new laws, as well as a helpful infographic.

Graduating high school seniors can earn up to $5,000 to pursue their dreams of a college education!

The Cox Charities Foundation awards college scholarships to graduating high school seniors across our CA service areas: San Diego, Orange County, Palos Verdes, and Santa Barbara. Today's students are pursuing careers that incorporate their passion for giving back and the innovative ways they are impacting their community. From science and engineering to business and
the arts, Cox Charities is proud to support the accomplishments
of these remarkable students.

California employers who provide unemployment insurance must notify all employees that they are eligible for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). AB 1847, a new law effective January 1, 2017, requires these employers to also notify employees that they may be eligible for the California EITC.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Celebrating 25 Years

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley, which was founded in 1992, have grown tremendously over the past 25 years. The Clubs were founded because there was a desperate need for structured after-school activities for the youth in our community. Starting in a simple trailer near San Juan Hills Elementary school, serving about 35 youth a day, they have grown into a three-branch organization now serving upwards of 500 youth each day in three South Orange County communities!
As they reach of this historic milestone, they will be celebrating their success and thanking all of the parents, businesses, volunteers and investors who have helped the Clubs to become such an integral part of the South Orange County community.
