Your local animal rescue Pet Project Foundation needs help from the community with saving kittens' lives.

Are you a cat lover who cannot commit to adopting a kitty? Or a family with kids? Or a teenager who wants the ultimate summer experience? Orphan kittens, momma cats with kittens, pregnant kitties, and scared kittens need you!
The time commitment could be anywhere from a few days to a couple months, and then the kittens go to the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter to find their purrfect homes.

If you live in South Orange County, come to our Kitten Foster Training to learn how you can be a part of this rescue team. Pet Project Foundation provides all food, supplies and veterinary expenses. All the foster parents have to provide is a home, time and love!

Frida Kahlo - Her Photos offers an intimate glance into the life of one of the world's most beloved artists. Throughout her life, Kahlo meticulously collected over 6,000 photographs of loved ones as well as scenes of Mexican culture, politics, art, history and nature.

These photographs were taken by many renowned creatives of the time. After her death, the collection was locked away by a grieving Diego Rivera in Kahlo's Mexico City family home, Casa Azul or the Blue House. More than fifty years later, this treasured collection was revealed to the public. Visitors to the exhibition will discover some of the brightest and darkest times in the artist's life while also experiencing a unique view of the tumultuous political and technological climate of the early to mid 20th Century.

Would you like to help keep an eye on Orange County's transportation tax dollars? If so, consider applying to volunteer on the Measure M Taxpayer Oversight Committee (TOC). TOC members serve a 3 year term, monitoring OCTA's use of revenue collected through Measure M2, the county's half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements. The TOC is celebrating 10 years of ensuring that all Measure M2 funds are spent on voter-approved transportation projects.
The application deadline to fill two positions on the 11-member committee, one each in Second and Third Supervisorial Districts, is May 1. Orange County residents residing in the Second or Third Supervisorial District are eligible to apply. Please note that elected or appointed city, district, state or federal officials are not eligible to serve on the TOC. To view a list of cities in each district, please click here.
The Grand Jurors Association of Orange County is conducting the TOC recruitment program and will recommend qualified candidates for membership. For additional information or to request an application, visit the TOC recruitment webpage  or contact Emily Mason, OCTA Community Relations Specialist, at 714-560-5421.

On March 27th,  the California Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved  new regulations relating to the use of criminal background information in employment decisions. These regulations will be filed with the Secretary of State's office and are effective on July 1, 2017.
Employers will have additional burdens under the new regulations.

As  previously reported, the California Fair Employment and Housing Council (FEHC) proposed these criminal history regulations last year.
In addition to reiterating existing prohibitions on the use of criminal history information in California, the regulations require employers to demonstrate that any criminal history information sought is job-related and consistent with a business necessity.

The Dana Point Chamber members are committed to continued education, not just for current business owners but also for future entrepreneurs.  That's why we've created scholarships for Dana Hills High School students.  Each year our members raise money to be awarded to students interested in pursuing an education in Business, Community Service, Culinary Arts, Marine Science and Hotel Management.

Over the past two years we have donated $15,000 to Dana Hills High School students and this coming school year we'd like to support even more students and we need your help! Help us reach our goal of  $5,000! Pledge a donation to the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce for the Dana Hills High School Awards Program. Awards will be presented in June 2017 at the Dana Hills High School Senior Awards ceremony.
