| DanceLifeTV.com announces a new scholarship program that will offer deserving teachers the chance to attend the 2011 DanceLife Teacher Conference. The conference will be held July 30 through August 2 at The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. | | | Students can nominate their dance teachers by submitting a video essay (maximum length 3 minutes) that answers the question: "How does your dance teacher make a difference in your life and the lives of others?" Upload your video essay to DanceLifeTV's Facebook page from January 15 through February 11. Please note: video essays posted prior to January 15 will not be eligible.
DanceLifeTV.com "fans" will cast their votes for the best videos through February 18. The videos with highest number of votes ("likes") will then move on to rounds two and three (see below for more details). | | | | Eligibility: |
- Adult dance teachers over the age of 18 are eligible to be nominated.
- Nominations must come from students who are currently taking class from the teacher they are nominating.
- Rhee Gold Company employees and the faculty and staff of the 2011 DanceLife Teacher Conference and their immediate families are not eligible to submit videos.
| | Judging Scholarship winners will be selected after three rounds of judging: |
- Round 1: A percentage of the essays submitted based on the number of scholarships available (MINIMUM 10) will be chosen as first-round winners based on the number of "likes" on DanceLifeTV Facebook page. Facebook visitors will have until February 18 to "like" video essays.
- Round 2: The top video essays will be posted on the DanceLifeTV.com website, where the scholarship sponsors will vote for their favorites.
- Round 3: Final votes will come from the editors and staff of Dance Studio Life magazine.
- Winners announced Monday, March 7: Announcement will be made on DanceLifeTV Facebook page and in an ezine emailed to 13,000 dance people all over the world.

- Videos will be judged on their sincerity and passion.
- The decisions of the judges are final, and by entering the scholarship program, those who submit videos and the teachers they nominate agree not to protest those decisions.
- The scholarship is non-transferable and winners cannot collect their scholarship in cash if for any reason they cannot attend the conference.
| | What the scholarship includes: |
- Top-ranked videos will be posted on DanceLifeTV.com and on the DanceLifeTV Facebook page. The winners will receive:
- four (4) days at the 2011 DanceLife Teacher Conference, including all food functions, special events, and the 2011 conference manual (hotel and airfare are not included);
- a DanceLifeTV T-shirt;
- an autographed copy of The Complete Guide to Teaching Dance by Rhee Gold;
- recognition at the 2011 DanceLife Teacher Conference.
| 2 steps to submitting a video essay:
Step #1 Submissions |
- Between January 15 and February 11, upload your video essay to DanceLifeTV's Facebook page.
- Title your video "Scholarship-[nominated dance teacher's first name, last name, name of school and the city and state it is located]."

- Email a copy of your video essay to videos@rheegold.com.
- Include in your email, your name, email address, and phone number as well as your teacher's name, school name, email address, and phone number.

- Week of January 3: The scholarship program will be announced on the DanceLifeTV and Dance Studio Life Facebook pages and through a special Dance Studio Life e-zine sent to more than 13,000 dance teachers. The scholarship sponsors, along with links to their websites, will be posted on both DanceLifeTV and Dance Studio Life Facebook pages.
- January 15-February 11: Students submit videos. Each video entry will be uploaded to the DanceLifeTV Facebook page for public viewing. (Facebook visitors will have the opportunity to "like" video essay submissions through February 18.) Please note: video essays posted prior to January 15 will not be eligible.
- February 21-25: The top-ranked videos will be posted to a page on DanceLifeTV.com, where sponsors will vote for the "best of the best."
- February 28-March 4: Dance Studio Life editors and staff will cast their votes for the sponsors' choices.
- Monday, March 7: Scholarship recipients and their sponsors will be announced on Facebook and in a special edition of the Dance Studio Life e-zine sent to 13,000 dance teachers.
