The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded portions of central Kansas, including Saline County, to a Winter Storm Warning as heavy snow is expected to impact the region late Tuesday night through Wednesday. Forecasts indicate 6 to 8+ inches of snow may accumulate, with the heaviest snowfall expected Wednesday morning.

Residents should prepare for considerable disruptions to daily lifedangerous driving conditions, and widespread closures and delays

Wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph could lead to drifting snow, further complicating road conditions. Significant travel disruptions are likely, especially along I-70. Employers are encouraged to consider delayed start times or remote work where possible to reduce traffic and allow road crews to clear streets effectively.

A brief period of light drizzle or freezing drizzle may occur late tonight through Tuesday morning, but little to no ice accumulation is expected. Snow is forecast to begin Tuesday evening, becoming heavier overnight and continuing through midday Wednesday before tapering off in the afternoon.
