LAS VEGAS, NV – State President Berl Perdue Jr. announced that the Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police has voted to endorse Attorney General Daniel Cameron for Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
“Attorney General Cameron has been a friend to the FOP since the day he stepped foot into public office. We are excited to stand with Daniel and look forward to helping him during the remaining months of the campaign” said Kentucky State FOP President and Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr.
The endorsement decision was made through canvassing the more than 10,700 FOP members throughout Kentucky with the final vote being held during the Kentucky State Caucus meeting of the 66th Biennial Conference of the National Fraternal Order of Police being held this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“During his tenure as Attorney General, Daniel has had our backs,” Perdue Jr. said. “Our members know that heis available when needed, supports us in good and bad times and ultimately offers the best platform for lawenforcement to thrive in the Commonwealth.
The FOP considered the two 2023 Gubernatorial Candidates records and their responses to FOP’s questionnaire. The FOP received responses from both campaigns in mid-July and distributed them verbatim to the more than 10,700 members of the Kentucky State FOP.
“As the Commonwealth’s oldest and largest law enforcement fraternal & labor organization, the FOP’s Gubernatorial endorsement is one of the most sought-after endorsements by candidates for the office,”Kentucky State FOP Vice-President and Governmental Affairs Chair said. “The FOP is the number one voice of law enforcement. Our membership spoke passionately about both candidates, but it was clear that Attorney General Cameron was the overwhelming choice.”
In every election cycle, the FOP pays close attention to which gubernatorial campaign highlights the issuesmost vital to the men and women of the FOP, including the challenges faced by the rank-and-file lawenforcement officers, the real issues in public safety, and the problems in our criminal justice system. The FOP has endorsed candidates—from both parties—that our members believe have made the men and women of law enforcement a priority: Ernie Fletcher (2003) , Steve Beshear (2007), David Williams (2011), Jack Conway (2015),Andy Beshear (2019), Daniel Cameron (2023)
The Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police is the oldest and largest law enforcement fraternal & labor organization in the Commonwealth with more than 67 lodges holding the membership of 10,700 active and retired law enforcement officers.
