A retired Maine Guide, logger, crafter and all-around fixer, Dan is a self-taught artist who began painting in acrylics after retirement. A life-long Mainer, he has always been creative with his hands, from designing Christmas ornaments out of birch bark, turning out bowls from burls found on trees, to making stained glass cats. He has had exhibits at the PACC in Phillips twice.
Dan seldom makes duplicate paintings-saying “it’s too boring. Each piece is a product of my imagination. I paint for the love of it, the process of working an image is alive with discoveries. A touch of humor seems to weave its way through my work.” Dan favors abstract and pop art with a bit of expressionism… and he makes his own frames.
