Mayor's Message

“Reflect upon your present blessings of which every man has plenty, not on your past misfortunes of which all men have some.”

- Charles Dickens

“Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and gratitude.”

- Nigel Hamilton

With the Thanksgiving holiday, I am reminded that even in a year filled with challenges, disappointments and loss, it is important to pause and recognize all the gifts I have been given, especially the gift of family and friends. Thanksgiving has always been a day where I can slow down, enjoy the company of family, and appreciate the simple gift of being together. There is no rush to buy any special gifts, or to decorate the house, it’s a day where we get a chance to relax, reflect, and spend time with the people who matter most.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to wish all the residents of Darien a day where they, too, can gather with loved ones and put all the troubles of the world on the “back shelf,” if only for a day. My hope for all of us is that this Thanksgiving brings peace, warmth and a well-deserved opportunity to look at the world through a different lens, simply enjoying the love of family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving!
