The Park District Board of Commissioners officially passed resolution 2024-04, a resolution declaring April 2-8, 2024 as Dark Sky Week at its regular board meeting held March 21. The Board encourage its businesses and residents to become more aware of the adverse effects of light pollution and to implement dark sky-friendly lighting practices consistent with DarkSky International’s principles.

Adult Egg Hunt


It's an egg hunt just for adults (21 and over)! Relax and enjoy music, pizza, pop and the opportunity to go home with some great prizes, 6 to 8 p.m., April 12 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Pizza, pop, egg hunt and one raffle ticket are included in the fee. Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase (cash only). Registration deadline is April 10. Spring Fishing Derby


Bring your bait, bucket, and fishing pole to Van Horn Woods East to test your angling skills 10 to 11:30 a.m., April 20! The derby is divided into three age divisions: 3-5, 6-8, and 9-13. Awards are given for the longest fish in each age division. Participants are entered into a raffle when they sign in (winners must be present). All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join the Plainfield Park District and Conservation Foundation on this annual river clean-up event 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., May 4 at Eaton Preserve. This event empowers residents to improve local rivers by removing trash from DuPage County waterways.

Give mom the gift of quality time with you this year for Mother's Day with a little paint, tea, and fun 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 11 at the Plainfield Township Community Center! Each participant registered receives a canvas to paint on. Refreshments are provided.

Experience cuisines from around the world with your favorite Chicagoland food trucks 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 18 at Bott Community Park. General admission is FREE; however, please register a free electronic ticket so we have a headcount for public works/safety and can plan accordingly.

Spring T-ball League


Registration is now open for the spring Coed T-Ball League for both boys and girls ages 3-6 that runs Saturdays, April 13 through June 8 at Four Seasons Park. Players learn the rules of the game, teamwork, and sportsmanship while developing skills and having fun. The first two weeks are practices and the remainder of the season is games. Registration deadline is March 28.

Spring Flag Football


Registration is filling fast for Flag Football, running Sundays, April 21 through June 16 at Bott Community Park. Divisions exist for ages 5-7, 7-9, 9-11 and 11-13. Participants enjoy all the positive aspects of football without the physical risks. Each player receives their own NFL Flag jersey and a set of flags. Registration deadline is March 29.
