DART Expanding On-Demand GoLink Service with New Pilots Taking Effect Monday

Dallas Area Rapid Transit is expanding its on-demand GoLink zone-to-zone service to three new areas beginning Monday.

The expanded pilot program aims to improve mobility in North Dallas, Rylie/Kleberg and the Garland/Rowlett area.

The North Dallas pilot will allow passengers to travel anywhere in DART’s Preston Hollow, North Dallas and North Central Dallas zones and to or from its Walnut Hill, Forest Lane, LBJ/Central and Royal Lane stations.

Human trafficking is a crime that robs millions of their dignity and freedom each year, and it can take the form of both forced labor and sex trafficking. It’s estimated that there are more than 27.6 million victims worldwide -- both adults and children alike.

DART Gets Heavily Into Vinyl with New Seating on Dallas Trains & Buses

In the debate over cloth versus vinyl, vinyl wins: Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is replacing the fabric seats on its buses and trains with new seats made of vinyl.

They begin the second phase of a program on January 22, piloting one light rail vehicle and one Dallas Streetcar vehicle. This follows a first round in 2023, when they replaced nearly 34,000 fabric seat cushions and backs on their fleet of buses with vinyl-covered seats.

Now come the trains: Starting in March 2024, more than 16,000 light rail vehicle seats in 163 vehicles will be replaced throughout the DART fleet.

2024 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo: Everything You Need to Know

Thousands of Texans are eagerly awaiting the return of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo on Jan. 12.

The events, which run 23 days until Feb. 3, kick off the professional rodeo and livestock competition season. The city’s largest annual event will feature rodeo performances, thousands of livestock, vendors and horse shows at Dickies Arena and Will Rogers Memorial Center. At the 2024 livestock and horse shows, exhibitors from 36 states will compete in Fort Worth.

Even as frigid weather descended on North Texas, festivities were kicked off Saturday by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo All Western Parade. The march featured more than 3,000 horses from across Texas.

FWSSR personnel are currently working with Trinity Metro to identify some additional parking options in Fort Worth that are at, or near, stops for the Dash.

DART Hosts Bi-Annual Silver Line Meeting

DART hosted its bi-annual Silver Line Meeting on Thursday, January 18 at the Addison Conference Centre. Representatives from the design-build contractor Archer Western Herzog (AWH) joined the DART team to share updates about construction, trains, and more.

Four of the eight trains DART has ordered for the Silver Line have already been delivered and the remaining four will arrive in early February.

These self-propulsion vehicles will be housed in Plano near Shiloh Road. DART will begin testing vehicles on the line in Addison in the fourth quarter of 2024.

In Addison, the Midway Bridge is 100% complete, as are the Addison Road, Quorum Drive, and Spectrum crossings. The Addison station is 85% complete. Platform and canopy work is currently underway. Canopy lighting has been installed and is being tested.
