Dr. Casteel grew up in Northern Kentucky and completed his undergraduate education at Thomas More University. He went on to complete his graduate-level training at the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (class of 2015), followed by a Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residency at Western Reserve Health Education in Youngstown, Ohio.
Dr. Casteel is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and holds additional wound healing certifications from the American Board of Wound Healing and Council for Medical Education and Testing.
Dr. Casteel’s professional interests include podiatric dermatology, wound healing, biomechanics and rheumatologic diseases. He is also a peer-reviewer for multiple medical journals including Foot and Ankle Surgery: Techniques, Reports and Cases (FASTRAC), Advances in Skin and Wound Care and the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Updates in Biomechanics - Practical Pearls; a 4-CECH online seminar which took place on November 11, 2021. Dr. Casteel presented "Bracing Outside the Box," which provided up-to-date methods for AFO diagnostics and casting.
He is also a member of the ACPM Education Committee.
Dr. Casteel has spearheaded a Lower Extremity Journal Review section of the ACPM website. This is a monthly collection of condensed literature reviews from a variety of medical journals which encompass all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery.
