Dr. Sofis will first review recent findings from Cannabis Public Policy Consulting’s Regulatory Determinants of Cannabis Outcomes Survey (RDCOS) from 25 adult use, medical-only, and illegal/low-THC states on the prevalence of cannabis use harms like cannabis use disorder (CUD), driving under the influence of cannabis. (DUIC), and youth cannabis use. He will then highlight promising up-and-coming treatment and prevention approaches designed to help prevent cannabis harms and contextualize how such approaches will impact recovery courts.

Meet the Presenter

Dr. Michael J. Sofis is the Director of Research and Product Innovation at Cannabis Public Policy Consulting (CPPC). He provides products and services for state agencies, digital technology companies, nonprofit organizations, and scientific collaborators. He has led the development of the Regulatory Determinants of Cannabis Outcomes Survey and Cannabis Policy Simulation Lab. He has led cannabis research policy and health projects for several state cannabis regulatory agencies is a consultant for the driving under the influence of cannabis (DUIC) impairment detection grant funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) and has developed a scalable digital intervention for reducing problematic cannabis use.
