We have lost an amazing man. Our dear friend Dave "Doc" Lachiondo passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020.
Dave was a member of the first graduating class of Bishop Kelly in 1965. He was a born leader; serving as a senior class officer, holding a lead acting role in the senior play, crowned as king of Bishop Kelly's very first junior-senior prom, and a member of the debate club and Knights football team while in high school.
After 18 years as a teacher, counselor and coach, and earning his Masters and Doctorate, he returned to his alma mater, Bishop Kelly in 1989 as principal. In 2000, after 12 years as principal and with the school in excellent shape, Dave returned to Boise Schools as an Area Director. But he missed his alma mater and BK missed him. In 2004, BK changed its governance model and Dave returned as president from which he retired in 2010. And even in retirement, he stayed engaged at our school as an active member of our BK President's Advisory Council.
Dave loved Bishop Kelly and Bishop Kelly loved him. We feel it is safe to say that no one person has more positively impacted Bishop Kelly High School, BK students and BK faculty/staff than Dave "Doc" Lachiondo. Much of who we are today as a school is due to his leadership and contributions. Thank you, Dave!
Please keep Dave, his wife Patti, their daughters Diana (BK '98) and Alicia (BK '02), and their families in your prayers.
"God Bless you Dave!!
You left the world a better place.
You live in our hearts forever."
