DETAILS:

The Iberia Preservation Alliance invites the public to attend the poster art reveal for the annual Dave Robicheaux Literary Festival on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 beginning at 10 a.m. at one of Dave's eateries, Victor's Cafeteria.

This year's poster was created by Troy Leleux, a professional artist and devoted teacher of fine arts. He has been working professionally in his field now for nearly 20 years. He offers commissioned portraits and works from direct observation around New Iberia, as well as from imagination. He recently painted a group portrait for the 2016 Symphony in the Park.

For the Dave Robicheaux Festival poster, Leleux included images from the past and present to express Detective Robicheaux's romance with New Iberia. A large live oak tree in the middle of the poster was inspired by one that grows in City Park near the bayou. If one looks in between the branches of the tree in the painting, they are able to see present day Victor's Cafeteria with a baby blue Cadillac parked in front. In another space, you see the ruin of an old steamboat wreck along the Bayou Teche that represents the past, and in another space, one sees a vigilante jumping over alligators in the swamp because Robicheaux is ever on his trail. These and more are the images painted by Leleux in this year's festival poster.

Posters will be on sale  at Books Along the Teche (106 E. Main St, New Iberia)  and Shadows-on-the-Teche (317 E. Main St, New Iberia) in New Iberia, following the unveiling at Victor's Cafe.

Leleux takes commissioned work and is also seeking students for enrollment in both children and adult drawing and painting classes. Contact him at LeleuxFineArt@gmail.com or call (337) 967-0304 if you are interested.
