David Postle was an architect in Elgin from 1892 to 1921. He left an incredible mark on Elgin with over eighty, often very significant buildings.

Postle designed the Duplex above at 54-56 N. Liberty for his own home. The home recently sold and was featured on the Historic Elgin House Tour in 2019. The heavy sandwiched porch brackets are found on several of the homes he designed. He designed the old Elgin City Hall on Chicago St.
