New COVID-19 Booster Vaccines & Flu Shots Are Available

New vaccines targeting the latest version of the Omicron variant are available at pharmacies and community health centers. The F.D.A. authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech booster for anyone 12 or older who received an initial vaccination or booster shot at least two months ago. Adults 18 or older can get the Moderna vaccine if it has been at least two months since their last vaccination. The C.D.C. recommended the same eligibility guidelines as the F.D.A. Don't forget that Flu season is here again, so make sure you get your Flu shot too! To find vaccine locations, click here or here. Council Member Erik Bottcher is co-sponsoring no-cost flu shots for the community with Duane Reade and Walgreens in his district office at 224 West 30th Street, Suite 1206, on Tuesday, October 18th, from 10:30am - 5:00pm. Space is limited, and appointments are required. TODAY: Deadline to Register to Vote in the General 2022 Election

Election day in NYC is fast approaching. Today, Friday, October 14th, is the last day to register to vote in the general 2022 election. You can register to vote by clicking here. The general 2022 election is on Tuesday, November 8th, and early voting is available from Saturday, October 29th, through Sunday, November 6th. 10/15: "Broadway Bomb" Skateboard Ride Down Broadway

The 2022 “Broadway Bomb” is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 15th. Skateboarders will ride down Broadway beginning at 116th Street all the way down to Wall Street, escorted by NYPD scooter patrol. The group will be traveling at a fast pace down Broadway between 12pm - 1pm. No street closures are expected. You can find more info here.

10/18: Blood Drive for the NY Blood Center at Fordham University

10/19: Accessible Voting for Adults who are Blind or Visually Impaired

Join Lighthouse Guild on Wednesday, October 19th at 7pm on Zoom to learn about your rights as a blind or visually impaired voter and where to find help if you need it. Representatives from The NYC Board of Elections will discuss accessible absentee ballots, ballot marking devices, accessibility tools and resources, and absentee vs in-person voting. 10/20: LPC Business Express Virtual Open Office Hours 

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is excited to continue its Business Express Virtual Open Office Hours on Thursday, October 20th, from 9 am – 5 pm. Commercial business owners and representatives who need help understanding LPC regulations for work in designated buildings and historic districts on street-level commercial spaces (restaurants, retail stores, offices, etc.) are encouraged to sign up. 10/27: The Mammogram Bus Comes to the Upper West Side 

If you're a woman between 40-79, live in New York City, and haven’t had a mammogram in the last 12 months, you may qualify for a free mammogram screening. On Thursday, October 27th, from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm, the American-Italian Cancer Foundation will park their Mammogram Bus outside Council Member Gale Brewer's district office (563 Columbus Ave. @ W. 87th St). Space is limited; call 1-877-628-9090 to see if you are eligible and book an appointment.
