Church of the Holy Comforter | Vienna, VA

Dear Holy Comforter Family,

We are grateful to announce starting June 1 that David Grove will join our Holy Comforter staff as Executive Director of Parish Operations. In this role he will assist and advise the Rector in the day-to-day administration of the parish office, human resources, physical plant/property management, fiscal management in partnership with the parish Treasurer, and information technology. This includes serving as the Executive Assistant to the Rector, supervision of the staff and volunteers, and ensuring smooth functioning of both the office and staff support to the Rector, other clergy, and the life of the Parish community.

David Grove

Most recently David was the Acting Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, where Holy Comforter is a strong partner and a member of the Samaritan Ministry Partner Council.

Most of his professional career was in the financial services industry, where he worked largely for banks over the past 25 years, and for a financial consulting firm in a staff leadership position. His roles have varied, but typically involve executive leadership, operational and fiscal management, customer support, service excellence, and human resources. David grew up in the Greater Washington area. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. In 2004, David left for a banking position in Texas, returning to the area in 2009, when he and his wife, Maggie, settled in Vienna and joined Holy Comforter. Besides Texas and Greater Washington, his career took him to North Carolina, Georgia, and Tidewater, Virginia.

At Holy Comforter David served two terms on the Vestry. He completed his second term on December 31, 2024, where he served as Senior Warden. During his first Vestry term he assisted with the formation of the Rector Discernment Committee and the hiring of our Interim Rector. He has also served as a member of the Finance Committee, Stewardship Chair, Endowment Committee as Senior Warden, Confirmation Class Leader, and was co-chair of the parish’s most recent Capital Campaign. He was a member of the choir, serves on the altar as a Eucharistic Minister and reader, usher, a member of the weekly men’s Bible Study, and regularly attends both the Parish and Men’s Retreat at Shrine Mont.

David shared, "I am incredibly excited and humbled to step into the role of Executive Director of Parish Operations at Holy Comforter. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff and parishioners to advance the vital mission of our parish."

“Welcome David! It is a such a joy to welcome you into this critical role. The gifts and experience you bring into further developing our beloved community are tremendous.”  –The Rector and Wardens
