Your Exclusive Look Behind the Scenes
Unbridled With David O'Connor

To most people in the eventing world, David O’Connor needs no introduction. He’s been involved at the highest levels of the sport since first making the U.S. Eventing Team in 1986, between competing and governance. Get to know David both on and off the horse in this month’s Unbridled—including a very memorable fall.

Here are a few of David’s answer that didn’t make it into print:
If you weren’t involved with the horse world, what career do you think you would have picked?
I was studying to be a veterinarian but I don’t think I was really smart enough. I was really interested in music in my younger age, and more on the educational side of music I might have broken off that way. That was a big part of my youth.

What’s your favorite meal?
Bacon and cheese sandwiches. Pretty simplistic.

Favorite type of pizza?
Pepperoni and sausage, man—no question. Not even close.

What three things can always be found in your refrigerator?
Diet Coke, cheese and bacon

What would be the best gift in the world?
Time

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
To fly, no question.

What’s something everyone should try at least once?
Jumping out of an airplane. Everybody should try that; it’s a thrill. You have to make yourself take that first step, after that it’s OK. But making yourself do something like that is pretty incredible will power.
