Back in 1927, Grandpa Ray Sautter became known as the best butcher and grocer in town when he opened his store, and not much has changed over the generations as the Sautter's family has grown and continued to serve the community with good, quality food, and outstanding service.
As a child, David Sautter loved to came to work with his father, Jim Sautter, and he would roam the aisles of Sautter's Market, playing hide and seek, or helping bag groceries, and greeting customers. As a teen, David went off to college, got his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his Master's from DePaul, and after a decade working in Chicago he has returned to join the family business.
On April 3rd, at 6:45 in the morning David Sautter began a new journey and joined his father at the store, this time to learn to manage the store and carry on the family tradition. "I've always kind of missed it," David reminisced as he chatted about coming home to Sautter's Market. "I like good food, I like good wine, and I enjoy serving people. This is what I like to do, it's in my blood."
Jim Sautter is quick to add that he is not going anywhere, and retirement is not in the picture at all. He is looking forward to working alongside his son, for many years to come.
