Water Safety and Course Information
There will be a mandatory safety brief for all participants at 9:45 AM. All swimmers are required to wear the provided red or yellow “David’s Old Silver Swim” swim caps to ensure our lifeguards and water personnel will be able to identify all swimmers. Water safety personnel will be on the water and life guards will be onshore.
While we have safety measures in place, please prioritize your safety at all times and use your best judgment regarding your ability to participate. This includes avoiding contact with wildlife, never approaching marine animals, and avoiding contact between coastal water and any open wounds.
Each of the events start with a dry land group start. Please place yourself according to your abilities. It is very important to start only with your group in order to maintain integrity of the timing process. If you are new or nervous, start toward the back of the pack to allow the lead swimmers to get out ahead.
Swimmers will start and finish at the Sea Crest Beach hotel. The loop course will be marked with brightly colored, highly visible buoys. Half-mile swimmers will complete one loop and one-mile swimmers will complete two loops. Buoys should be kept to the right at all times to avoid collisions. The course map is below and will be posted on the beach.
