Family Faith Formation Update

September 2024

Kicking Off the Congregational Year

Dear Davies Families,

As we turn the corner into the spring, I am excited to welcome you all back to Davies and this new Congregational Year. Whether you've spent your summer exploring new places, enjoying the warmth of home, or simply taking a moment to rest, I hope you return refreshed and ready to reconnect with our beloved community.

In this email, you’ll find information about our plans for children and youth activities on upcoming Sundays; an invitation to join the UU Climate Justice Revival at River Road; and a list of upcoming multigenerational events throughout the year, including the pageant, animal blessing, and Trunk or Treat. There’s so much to look forward to as we come together for another year of learning, growth, and fun.

I also want to flag two other opportunities for you and your families:

Chalice Lighting

I hope to have a congregant or family light our chalice before each service throughout this year. I hope you to sign up to participate as an individual or as a family. You can do so using our SignUpGenius.

Service Hours

Maryland does not award SSL credit for service to a religious organization. However, if your kids are looking for additional volunteer opportunities, I’d be happy to work with you and them to find something that matches their talents. Whether it’s digital design for our emails, website, or social media pages; computer expertise or an interest in learning about our A/V systems; or music, baking or other creative arts, I am sure we can find something that allows them to contribute in a meaningful way.

I hope you find this information useful. I intend to send out similar emails as we approach the beginning of each month. As always: please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything the congregation or I can do to support your families.

With heart,

Pastor Kirk
