When Covid-19 hit our nation, our case management team's first thought was the safety of shelter guests. In March of 2020, we served 40 shelter guests, then the number of homeless individuals tripled within a month. The solution was to move all guests into two local Stamford hotels.

“It was a lot of work,” said Rob Lockhart, Director of Program Services at Pacific House.

“My staff has been working straight the last three-and-a-half weeks to do this, and I’m so fortunate that I’ve got a good crew,” he said.
The pandemic was an extraordinary emergency, but day to day, case managers provide the consistent structure and guidance shelter guests need to overcome their struggles.
Case Manager Mohammed Mamun works tirelessly to find permanent housing for clients who are ready to live independently. In one week in March, he found apartments for four formerly homeless men. “Finding a home for a client is the highlight of my day,” Mohammed remarked during a hectic day of moving. Mohammed and George Keels, another Case Manager, accompany the soon-to-be residents to their new homes to help them settle in.
George Keels, Case Manager, makes it his priority to sit with clients to establish goals within their reach. He helps clients obtain identity credentials, such as a replacement birth certificate, state ID card, or Social Security card. Having a way to identify yourself is a critical first step to apply for a job or lease an apartment.
Open for occupancy in April 2021: Pacific House Parkview North property provides intensive 24-hour case management support for residents. This newly renovated building provides 12 formerly homeless individuals with a place to call home. Pacific House now has two properties in Norwalk, CT.
