DAY 1 LESSON
Discover the Power of One Word

9 out of 10 people will fail with their resolutions.

50% of resolution makers will fail by the end of January.

But One Word sticks!

One word gives you meaning and mission, passion and purpose. One word helps you focus on what matters most.

That's why 10 years I ago I stopped making New Year's resolutions and started picking One Word for the upcoming year. No resolutions, no goals... just One Word that helps me be my best and create a great year.

My friends  Dan Britton and Jimmy Page  have been doing this for over 20 years. They told me how every New Year's Eve they gathered with their children and each came up with a word. Then they made paintings of their words that hung in their houses to remind them to live their word for the year.

I was inspired and started doing it with my family and shared it with everyone. One Word has impacted sports teams, businesses, hospitals, families, schools, and children.

One word is simple, powerful and it makes a difference.

My words over the years have been: PURPOSE, SURRENDER, SERVE, PRAY, RISE, FORGIVE, STILL, CONNECTED and EXPAND, HEART.

Each word has shaped and molded me into the person I am today and looking back the right word chose me at the right time. I say choose me because I never chose a word randomly. I reflected and went through a process and each year the word came to me and I knew it was the right one. When you choose one word for the year it will become a chapter in your book of life.

Take Action

Today, as part of the One Word Challenge, simply reflect on the past year and think about the upcoming year. Ask yourself what One Word will give you meaning, purpose and focus. Write down your thoughts. Tomorrow you will go through a more specific process to find your word but for today simply reflect, think, believe that there is a word meant for you and be open to receiving it.
