Indigenous Wellness Framework and Palliative Care
The Indigenous Wellness Framework describes wellbeing as coming from a balance of four kinds of wellness: spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical wellness. Although this framework was developed within the addictions field, the key concepts of the framework reflect the same philosophy as the palliative approach to care. The palliative approach to care emphasizes the relationships between the body, mind, and spirit and the need for care to address these different areas of self in order to achieve wellness.

Learn more about the Indigenous Wellness Framework in the Preparing for the Journey bedside resource manual.
