Day 11: Finding Home Again

After my husband (who was Catholic) passed away, I felt a deep pull to return to my Lutheran roots. As I searched for a church home, I came to Shepherd of the Hills one Sunday — and from the moment I walked in, I felt something familiar and comforting.

It felt like home.

The warmth and friendliness immediately reminded me of my home church in Minnesota, where I had once served as an Administrative Assistant. More than that, I felt the strong and steady presence of Jesus.

Each Sunday when I returned, that sense of peace grew, and little by little my sadness and loneliness were replaced with joy, love, and a true feeling of belonging.

As I became more involved, I also learned that Shepherd of the Hills is a church deeply committed to mission and service — something that matters greatly to me.

Through worship, community, and shared purpose, my faith was renewed and my heart was lifted.

God has given me many blessings in my life, but I truly believe that Shepherd of the Hills is one of the greatest gifts He has given me.

A Prayer for Today:

Gracious God,

Thank you for meeting us when we are searching for home. Thank you for the gift of community that heals, restores, and reminds us that we belong. Help us to be a welcoming presence for others, just as you have welcomed us with love and grace. Amen.
