Day 16, May 6: Voter Suppression Today
Yesterday centered on the history of voter suppression. This email is about what voter suppression looks like today. It is still an issue, from who gets to vote, to having one ballot box for an entire city. 

Let’s examine the issues to figure out how to combat them:

  • Blog: As more states try to pass restrictive voting rights laws, North Carolina will be a state to watch. Learn more here.  

  • Spotlight: Stacey Abrams is a politician, lawyer, voting rights activist, and author who served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, serving as minority leader from 2011 to 2017. In 2018, Abrams founded Fair Fight Action, an organization to address voter suppression.Her efforts have been credited with significantly boosting voter turnout in Georgia.
