DAY 2 LESSON
Choose Your Word

You still may not have any idea what your word is going to be this New Year. That's okay. It doesn’t always come right away. Give it some time. Instead of randomly picking a word, allow the word to choose you. Your word will come!

I've had people email me saying, "I waited and waited and waited and one day, bam, the word hit me. I knew it was my word for the year." If you are open, the word always comes. There is a word that is meant for you to help you become all that you are meant to be and if you believe it, you will receive it.

With that said, there are some questions you can ask to help you find and receive your word. Make some time to unplug from the noise and the distractions of life and ask yourself:

1.    What do you want to focus on this year?
2.    What's in the way?
3.    What do you need more of?
4.    What do you need less of?
5.    What needs to change?
6.    What matters most?
7.    What is one word that will drive me this year to be my best?

Take Action

Write down a list of the words that come to you.

Pick the top three that stand out to you more than the other words.

Now give yourself some time to see if one of your top three is your word but also be open because sometimes this exercise will reveal a completely different word that comes to you out of the blue.

One year my word was either surrender or enjoy. I jumped in the ocean on New Year’s Day still unsure of my word. When I jumped into the ocean I hurt my knee. I limped out of the ocean frustrated that this would happen on what was meant to be a positive day. As I limped I heard the words, “You can’t do it alone,” and knew my word was surrender, not enjoy. It was a year of surrender for sure and it changed me in many amazing and positive ways. I wanted the word to be enjoy but surrender was meant for me.

Be open to the word that is meant for you.
