Brown Books and Paintbrushes
Day 34: It's Teachers Appreciation Week! Every day, teachers are working hard to help us learn new skills, discover our passions, and grow into the best versions of ourselves. Today, we're inviting your family to honor the teachers and educators in your lives. Check out this video about Brown Books and Paint Brushes , a Chicago based organization dedicated to empowering youth through arts, culture, and literacy education.

A round of applause for our teachers! For Teachers Appreciation Week, we're celebrating all that educators do to help us grow. From learning about the life cycle of our environment, to our city's cultural history, teachers open our eyes to the world around us. Take some time to honor a teacher in your life today!
Let's Talk
After watching the video, Brown Books and Paintbrushes, use the questions below to kick-start a great conversation with your family:

  • What do you find interesting about the work of Brown Books and Paintbrushes?

  • Why is it important to learn about your culture and heritage? Who in your life has helped you learn about your culture?

  • How do your teachers use creativity to inspire you? Share a time when a teacher has made a difference in your life.

  • Bonus! Toni Morrison is quoted as saying, "what can I do where I am?" Today, thank about how you can show appreciation for teachers from where you are.

Do Something
Become An Author
A few months back, Honeycomb volunteers created board books for La Rabida Children's Hospital. Patients loved receiving our one-of-a-kind books.

Making a picture book is a fun way to get creative! Share a story about how you spend your time at home, write about your favorite hobby, or pick a fun theme.

To get started, grab art supplies and some paper or cardstock to illustrate your book. Decorate the cover and bind it with string or other objects around your house. Save your book for your family to enjoy or send your story to a friend or family member who is practicing their reading skills!

Take a picture of your book and tag us at #honeycombathome or @honeycombproject
Doing good and looking great! Did you know that 27% of Honeycomb kids donate goods and 18% donate money to our partner organizations? When you buy a Honeycomb tee or donate, you ensure these young changemakers can make a meaningful impact in their communities. Shop now!
