Day 4: Held in Love

When It Mattered Most

A Time I Saw God's Goodness at Shepherd of the Hills:

There are many moments when we have witnessed God’s goodness at Shepherd of the Hills, but none more profound than February 27, 2025 — the day my husband suffered a heart attack and stroke.

In the uncertainty and fear of that moment, Pastor Jeff and Kris met us at the emergency room and stayed with us until he was stabilized, returning again and again to pray with him. Their presence was a tangible reminder that we were not alone — that God’s love was surrounding us through the hands and hearts of this church.

In the days that followed, the outpouring of care, prayer, and compassion from our church family sustained us through the darkest moments. Meals, messages, prayers, and quiet acts of kindness carried us when we did not have the strength to carry ourselves.

There is no doubt in our hearts that we would not have survived that season without the love of God expressed through this community.

Core Value: Life is Better Connected

Shared by Gail and Paul Appeldorn

As you reflect today, pause to offer a prayer of thanks for the people who have stood beside you during moments of fear or uncertainty — and for the ways God’s grace has been made visible through their connection and care. You may also wish to read and reflect on Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.”
