Day 4 of our Lenten Journey

Old Testament Reading: Isaiah 2:11-21

Old Testament Reading: Genesis 2:4-19

Old Testament Reading: Proverbs 3:1-18

Lent is a season where we take part in fasting, praying and repentance, with the aim to exercise our soul and put an end to all of our sinful passions and destructive habits, so we can truly celebrate Christ's Resurrection and our own spiritual resurrection.

Great Compline Tonight at 6pm-7:30pm

There are certain things we don't want lukewarm. We don't want lukewarm coffee. We don't like lukewarm soda and I remember a commercial where a man took out a carton of milk from the refrigerator and took a swig. He then proceeded to spit it out in the sink. His wife called out, "Honey, the refrigerator is not working!"

Lukewarm coffee, soda and milk are unappetizing. Well, there is something lukewarm that God finds detestable too...lukewarm faith!

In the 3rd Chapter of the Book of Revelation we read how unappetizing lukewarm faith is to God:

“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.

Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches’” (Rev 3:14-22).

It makes sense for God to feel this, right? Do you want your spouse to have a lukewarm love for you? Of course not! You want your spouse to be passionately in love with you. So does God want from us.

C. S. Lewis said it like this, "The only thing Christianity cannot be is moderately important." If Jesus is God and He showed His passionate love for you by dying on the cross and establishing a place with Him in Paradise, then you owe Him the rest of your life, every spare minute of it. The only thing Christianity cannot be is moderately important. It either deserves your entire life or nothing. This LOVE requires a response from you.

So how are you in your passion for God? Are you lukewarm? Are you just going through the motions? Or are you red hot for God because He loves you unfathomably? Has there ever been a time in your life when you were closer to God than you are right now? If so, why? What’s holding you back?

The truth is you’re as close to God as you choose to be. You can have as much of God as you want. It’s up to you!

FEEDING YOUR FAITH

Be the Bee # 75 | Memory Eternal

Duration 6 minutes

When people pass away, we pray that their memory will be eternal. We're not simply asking God to think about them: we're asking Him to save them (and us) and bring us all into His Kingdom. It's the Church's answer to the loneliness and emptiness of death.

Make an appointment this Holy Lenten Season for the Sacrament of Holy Confession!
