Milestone Moments
Day 56: Showing up. School is a special place. It’s where kids discover their passions, laugh with friends, share meals, find support, and celebrate milestones like prom and graduation. All students have experienced many challenges and hardships over the past few months. Today, we invite your family to reflect on their experiences, and recognize the incredible teachers who have stepped up to support them.

We can all work together to show appreciation for students and teachers. Listen to Maxie Jones' personal story on The Moth and learn how his teacher, Mr. Goldberg, supported him when times were tough.

This video was produced by The Moth , an organization dedicated to promoting the art and craft of storytelling and honoring and celebrating the diversity and commonality of human experience.
Let's Talk
After listening to Maxie Jones' story, use the questions below to kick-start a great conversation with your family:

  • What stood out to you about Maxie’s story? What make you smile?

  • Mr. Goldberg helped Maxie get through a difficult time in school. How have your teachers helped you?

  • What do you miss most about school? What are creative ways to stay in touch with your school community through the summer months?

  • Bonus! Reach out to your classmates and make a plan to stay connected this summer. Start a summer book club or plan a weekly virtual luncheon.

Do Something
Celebrate a Graduate
Every day, students are working hard to learn new skills, contribute to their community, and grow. Even if this school year isn’t exactly what everyone expected, students worked hard and persevered.

Take time to think about special ways to pay tribute to the Class of 2020. Get creative and plan a special day to celebrate the graduates in your life! Make a sign, create sidewalk art, or plan a car parade.

Interested in making a balloon garland? Watch this tutorial from our friends at Shop Sweet Lulu , a local party decor shop, and get inspired for your colorful creation. If you don’t know any graduates, all students could use recognition for their accomplishments. Take a picture of your celebrations and tag us at #honeycombathome and @honeycombproject
